Privacy & Cookies

How this website uses cookies, and how we look after information you send us.

Who we are

This website is run by the Buckie & District Fishing Heritage Centre, 10 Cluny Place, Buckie AB56 1HB. If you have any questions about your information, email info@buckieheritage.org or phone 01542 834702.

If you contact us

When you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. It is emailed to the Heritage Centre and a copy is kept in the website’s secure admin area, so we can reply and, if you share information or photographs, add them to the records of those named on the memorial. We also note the internet address (IP address) and browser you used, to help block spam.

We use your details only to reply to you and to research the memorial. We don’t share them or use them for marketing. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete what you’ve sent.

Visitor statistics (no cookies)

To understand which pages and names people look at, the website counts page views and the words typed into its search box. This doesn’t use cookies and stores nothing on your device. Visitors are counted anonymously for one day using a code that can’t be traced back to you; no IP addresses are saved. We also note which website sent you here (for example a search engine) and whether you’re using a phone, tablet or computer.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This site uses only one:

  • PHPSESSID is set on the contact page to protect the form from misuse. It’s deleted when you close your browser.

This cookie is essential for the contact form to work securely, so we don’t need to ask for your consent. We don’t use Google Analytics, advertising or any other tracking cookies.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it’s used. Please contact us using the details above. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
